"True North"
・Recommended movie Story
A man spoke in front of people about the true state of the Democratic Republic of Korea, commonly known as North Korea.
The Park family, who immigrated to Pyongyang from Japan with a migration plan, lived with a strict father, a kind mother, a cheerful Johann boy, and a younger sister.
Unbeknownst to Johann, his father was thinking of defecting from North Korea and was gathering allies.
Then one day his father disappeared.
Johann, his mother, and his sister, who became the family of a political prisoner, were searched in the house, and after that, they packed up their belongings and put them on a truck.
Without knowing where they would take me, I was brought along with others to a forced labor zone where people driven to the brink of death live inside the gates.
They were given a small house with bare soil, and from the next day onwards they were given their respective roles, women doing field work and side jobs, and Johann being a man, even children were made to do coal digging.
They weren't even given enough food, and the people around them were on the brink of starvation.
In such an environment, Johann's mother took over Insu, whose mother was executed by firing squad, and the four of them continued to live together for eight years, and Johann and Insu grew up splendidly.
However, Johan gradually turned to the side of the regime and turned to the side of prosecuting those who violated it.
As a result, he was able to receive more food than the average person, but his mother and sister could not forgive Johann's act of selling out his companions.
Meanwhile, an incident occurs.
Johann's mother was stabbed by an old woman who had lost her husband after being tipped off by Johann.
Unable to accept his mother's death, Johann becomes half-dead, unable to serve as an informant, and is repelled by the regime, leaving him alone.
Just as he realizes that he must live, this time his younger sister is raped by a man who acts as a watchman.
As a result of this, Insu was accused of attacking the man who was the watchman and was taken to the underground prison.
Then she finds out that her sister is pregnant.

I knew.
I knew how unreasonable North Korea was and how it disregarded human rights.
The director of this work has been interviewing North Korean defectors for 10 years and completed this work, probably because there are some people who can't give their names.
this really happened.
It's not a lie.
Considering that this is still going on, I want to do something about it.
However, the walls of the country are big, and even if I try to do something, in the end I return to being unable to do anything.
At least I want people who don't know this movie to know the truth.
That's my only wish.
